The current board of Directors for the Deafness Foundation are looking for a Director to join a highly motivated skills based board to work closely with a diverse team of directors that direct and lead the strategic purpose of the Deafness Foundation.

Deafness Foundation was formally established in 1974 as Deafness Foundation (Victoria).  The purpose of the organisation is to promote equality for people who are deaf and hard of hearing by providing funding for research and grants along with educational encouragement awards annually.  Deafness Foundation and provides services to and is authorised to fundraise in all States and Territories in Australia.

Deafness Foundation is the lead organization in the planning of Hearing Awareness Week (HAW).  The new director role will Chair the HAW committee working and building partnerships and design promotion and delivery of Hearing Awareness Week in March 2020.

The ideal candidate will:

  1. Possess specialist skills that can be contribute to the success of the organisation, for example marketing, event management, fundraising legal, financial, public relations, community / stakeholder engagement, deafness or human resources.
  2. Preferred experience working on a Board or committee.
  3. Training or experience in governance and / or risk management would be well regarded.

Current Board Size: 9-12
Board Meetings (frequency): every two months
Board Meetings Held: Late afternoon early evening
State where Board Meetings Held: Victoria (via ZOOM for regional and interstate directors)
